The Greene County baseball team won its last non-conference game of the regular season when the boys topped the South Central Calhoun Titans 8-3 at Allensworth Field in Jefferson Thursday. The Rams are now at 18-10 on the season
Senior Jordan Hostetler pitched a complete game for the win. He struck out one batter, walked three, and allowed two earned runs on five hits. The Rams committed four errors.
The Rams got 10 hits, all of them singles. Daric Whipple had three, Colton Fitzpatrick had two for two runs batted in. Branden Miller had a two run single, and Tyler Beger and Reid Lamoureux each had singles for an RBI. Jordan Challen and Dylan Fouch each added singles. The Rams were up 7-0 after the first inning, 7-2 after the second inning, 8-2 after the third, and 8-3 after the fifth.
The Rams finish the regular season with a Heart of Iowa make-up game against Nevada in Nevada Friday afternoon. The Rams are 13-4 in the HOIAC and could finish as high as second place. Gilbert leads the league.
Tournament play begins next Friday at 5 pm in Carroll with the Rams playing the Atlantic Trojans.
